Cleveland Clinic Health Physicist - Radiation Safety in Cleveland, Ohio

As a Health Physicist, you will administer Radiation Safety activities, helping facilitate the safe medical and research use of radioactive material and ionizing radiation at Cleveland Clinic Health System facilities. In this role, you will provide critical health physics support to the Radiation Safety Officer and Assistant Radiation Safety Officer. Your efforts are essential for ensuring our teams can successfully and carefully navigate the complexeties of research, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology and more.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform audits of departments at CCF Main Campus, CCF Satellites and other CCHS facilities.

  • Prepare written reports of audit findings, perform necessary follow-up activities and develop necessary corrective actions.

  • Review dosimetry records of assigned CCF departments and perform assigned dosimetry follow-ups.

  • Identify and propose necessary program changes or procedural changes as needed.

  • Assist in developing procedures involving radioactive materials or ionizing radiation.

  • Provide periodic routine training re-training for individuals in medical, research and support departments as needed or directed.

  • Assist in the development of training materials and the coordination of training sessions to ensure completion of compliance requirements.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Physics, Medical Health Physics, Industrial Hygiene, Physics, Engineering or in Biological Science with a minor in Physical Science or Engineering and two years of experience in Applied Health Physics, preferably at a medical broad scope licensee, requiring professional level judgment and involving radiation safety OR Master's Degree in Health Physics or a closely related field and one year of experience

  • Eligibility to sit for Part One of the American Board of Health Physics within two years of hire

  • Valid Driver's License (VDL) and eligibility of insurability as determined by CCF's insurance carriers' requirements to operate CCF vehicles

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience as an RN, Technologist, Radiology Technologist or support personnel

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.

  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds.

  • May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.

  • Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
