Job Summary:

As a Senior Design Engineer , you will be a contributor to the planning, concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes within Caterpillar’s Defense Team. You will have the opportunity to perform analysis of concepts, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, and communicate technical information in a concise and accurate manner.

What You Will Do:

• Evaluate customer specifications to develop and recommend solutions to their technical problems.

• Provide technical guidance on needs analysis and initiate ideas

• Evaluate, design, and promote new products, components, processes, or systems

• Review testing requirements, develop test procedures, and execute testing

• Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units

• Contribute to the design of new products, and processes

• Provide technical guidance on product and process maintenance.

• Research and develop new technology

• Work closely with and communicate concepts and results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units

• Collaborate with suppliers and monitor and evaluate supplier quality.

• Assist in the integration of repair procedures and instillation instructions into ILS publications.

• Analyze engine package, system, and component failures to determine root cause

• Performs manipulations on design objects, such as changing projections and managing drawing layers.

• Compares and contrasts uses of bird's-eye views and worm's-eye views.

Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and engineer engine product lines, technology, or service from concept through to production.

• Develops organizational standards and processes in order to maximize complex product services' efficiency and effectiveness.

• Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process.

• Supervises the management of multiple and diverse types of products or services.

• Develops proof-of-concept exercises to prove or disprove validity of proposed products.

• Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems.

• Designs working prototypes of a variety of proposed products or services.

• Marine or Electric Power mechanical design, testing and analysis knowledge and skillset desired.

• Engine performance and validation knowledge and skillset desired.

• Cat Defense and/or U.S. Military processes and product requirement knowledge and skillset desired.

Education: Bachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field from an accredited engineering curriculum

Additional Information:

• This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a 3-day weekly office presence onsite at our Peoria, IL office and remote work for the remaining days. However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business need

• Relocation assistance is available

• Travel expectation up to 15%

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
